My name is Michael Cash and I feel privileged to be the principal of St Thomas More’s Primary School, a role I have held since 2010.
All of my experience as an educator has been within the Catholic Diocese of Toowoomba and I strongly support the goals of our system in striving for academic excellence and making Jesus known to each student. Prior to becoming a principal, I have filled a variety of roles in schools including classroom teacher, Learning Support Teacher, PE teacher and Assistant to the Principal: Religious Education. I have also filled roles within our Catholic Schools Office.
Outside of school, I am an avid runner. This passion has taught me a number of valuable life lessons including the importance of preparation, hard work and perseverance, the need to set my own aspirational goals and measure myself against those - not compare myself to others and the realisation, that improvement is always possible and can’t be achieved without trying to find better ways of doing things.
I believe that student wellbeing and learning should be at the core of all we do as a school. When making decisions, myself and with the school’s leadership team we reflect on the question, ‘How will the children benefit from this?’.
As a school, we have the responsibility to assist each student on their journey towards reaching their full potential, not only to be able to experience life in all its fullness but also to be able to be of service to the communities to which they belong. To be able to see a need and do something about it.
I strive to build positive relationships in order to maintain a strong community that works collaboratively to enhance the outcomes for all of our students.
I invite you to come and meet me personally, tour our school and see firsthand the teaching and learning that happens at St Thomas More’s Primary School.
