Religious Life of the School

At St Thomas More’s Primary School our vision is to live life in all its fullness (John 10:10) and the Religious Life of our school certainly keeps this vision in mind.

Students are encouraged to live life in all its fullness as they engage in Religion lessons in class, deconstructing Scripture and making connections to the real world; and learning about the history and tradition of the Catholic Church.

Students attend Parish Mass each Friday in year-level groups, strengthening our ties with the parish and its parishioners. Father Michael, the current Priest Director at St Thomas More’s Catholic Church, is a frequent visitor at school with his trusty sidekick, Rosie.

The whole school community has a variety of ways to engage in prayer throughout the year. We come together as a whole school community to celebrate Mass each term and classes are given the opportunity to plan and share their own celebrations with their families and students from various year levels throughout the year. It is always a special experience to be able to share these celebrations in the church.

Students are also encouraged to live life in all its fullness through their participation in the many student-led events our Year 6 leaders organise as part of the St Thomas More’s Service Club, including Prayer and Mediation Clubs. Students are also exposed to various forms of prayer daily in the classroom, with a firm favourite being our take on Christian meditation, which allows the students to reflect on Scripture passages and carefully consider just what it is they want to talk to God about.
